Diary of a Rockstar's first interview features the singer and guitarist of a great rock band called The Hiding, who have been slowly but steadily rising through the ranks of the Melbourne underground music scene. With relentless touring around the country, sold out shows in Los Angeles, a #2 ARIA charting release and sharing the stage with great bands such as The Screaming Jets; they have achieved a lot in a short time. The band is now hard at work on a brand new EP set to be released in the near future (will keep you all updated). Anthony has graciously taken time out of his busy schedule to talk to us and answer a couple of questions.

Hey, Anthony. The Hiding have been hard at work on a new EP set to drop in the near future. You guys have matured a lot as musicians over the last few years. What direction have you taken with the sound of the new EP?
With the new EP we are focusing on melody and lyrical content with unique and experimental sounds specific to The Hiding. Jimi Maroudas, our producer, has worked closely producing this EP over the last 12 months and we are very proud of where the songs sit in the market place. We have also had the assistance from Benjamin McCarthy who coached us on lyrical direction and content.

The Hiding have had the chance to play The Viper Room in Hollywood with bands like Trust Company, as well as playing festivals in Australia with bands like The Screaming Jets. Is it a dream come true to be playing alongside great bands like the 'Jets, and rocking the same venues that were the stomping grounds for some of the biggest bands in the world?
Touring with some of Australia's bigger historical acts has been a fantastic experience. These bands made big success stories in markets where there was no internet/facebook and myspace. We learned a lot through these acts and hope to bring that knowledge into our current sound and direction. Travelling LA was an experience that we will always cherish and appreciate. Playing at some of LA's most historical respected venues was a dream come true and the experience made us tighter and closer as a band.
Any advice for others looking to follow your footsteps and persuing a career in a band, or as a musical artist?
My advise for others starting in the industry would be utilise the benefits of today’s exposure tools the best you can. When we started it was very hard to reach new markets other than purely gigging and hard copy media. Now the online social networks expose and create opportunities we would have loved to been exposed to in our earlier years. Never stop writing, collaborating ideas and being innovative with your music. Stay true to yourself and people will listen.
You guys have played a successful run of shows in Los Angeles, played festivals in Australia with some of the country's biggest bands, toured relentlessly around Australia and had an EP that reached #2 on the ARIA physical CD charts. What is next for The Hiding?
What’s next for The Hiding? We hope for a solid EP release, a video clip for the single, national tour, to sync opportunities internationally, and plan for our first album release.
Thank you for your time, Anthony. Best of luck with the new EP, can't wait to hear it!
Thanks for keeping in touch.
